Child's Play
Recently I saw a photo of three children playing 'train' in wooden boxes. Entitled 'joy unbounded' it made me feel very happy. Children do not need costly complex toys to play with. Give them a stick and a ball and they play whatever their imagination leads them to. I can't forget the sparkle in the eyes of the three children. Can I be like them, being happy spontaneously? I doubt, warped am I in my own longings, thoughts and fears.
Somewhere I have lost the pure joy of living in the moment. Mind you I am nearing 60, and living secure in a modest but comfortable apartment. Whereas these children could be the sons of casual workers and living in shanties. They are so carefree. I wish they remain thus always.
